Software Defined Network Routers

Routers help provide the high availability, flexibility and agility in a software defined network.   SDN decouples the control plane and forwarding plane or data plane.  Nodes look to a centralized, software-based controller on a bare metal hardware server for traffic control decisions, making the software defined network flexible and dynamic.  Multiprotocol Label Switching (MLPS) increases the speed of traffic flow between nodes.  Network Function Virtualization (NFV) allows entire classes of node functions to be chained together into virtual machines running different software and processes that include security and load balancing.

Communications service providers and enterprises invest in SD WANs for the carrier grade quality of service (QoS) they deliver.  SDN technology provides reliability, high performance and high availability with reduced capital and operating costs.
