Software Defined Network Switches

Switching technology is important to the efficiency of software defined networks and data centers.  Administrators in software defined networks can use bare metal switches with zero-touch provisioning (ZTP) functionality.  The intelligence designed into SDN switches reduces bottlenecks.  Switches can be programmed to prioritize network traffic according to the organization’s unique applications and conditions and reduce latency.

SDN network fabric is based on Leaf-Spine architecture.  In this architecture, multiple leaf switches form the access layer and are meshed into a series of spine switches.  Leaf-spine network architecture improves performance and reduces latency because switches are one hop away from each other.  Multiple switches act like a single switch through Multichassis Link Aggregation (MLAG), increasing bandwidth and redundancy.  The architecture and intelligence built into SDN components lead to better network performance and control.
